How To Register A Small Trailer In Ca
- #ii
last time i registered a "dwelling congenital trailer" all i had to do was take it to dmv for inspection. they look at it, some closer than others. put the VIN sticker on and give yous plates. if yous become that route you will have to fill up out a statement of facts. note: your story must be that you or someone in your firsthand family built it, you is best. and you built information technology from scrap parts acquired from yard sales over the years. if it looks old than tell them its never been registered because it has ever been used on individual property and now yous desire to put information technology on the street. if yous tell them the truth or anything close to the truth you lot'll have problems. i used to make alot of trailers for people and thats what i was told.
also about don't know information technology but a pink slip is not required for a trailer in CA. i would get one (extra 15$ i recall) makes resale easier.

no lieing involved. the AAA does Not deal with this.
call the CHP and schedule an appt with their "trailer inspector." You lot'll get an ID plate riveted on. Then get to the DMV for your 'pinkish slip' and registration.
or
its all a fucking conspiracy, I tell ya!

no demand for chp. if you take information technology to chp you meliorate crawl effectually every nook and cranny and look for vins, series # manufacturing tags/ marks. they volition look. however i've never had a 50 year former, 300# woman from the dmv crawl around under a trailer and look.

no need for chp. if you have it to chp you better crawl effectually every nook and cranny and look for vins, series # manufacturing tags/ marks. they will await. all the same i've never had a 50 year old, 300# woman from the dmv clamber around under a trailer and look.
have you brought a legit trailer in to cali from a 'no registration required' land? Maybe it was merely my attitude that allowed me to not have to lie, to non accept to crawl nether the trailer, and to goggle a 20-something CHP inspector while she took care of everything. then dorsum to DMV for a quickie visual "inspection", no pain in the ass - merely a typical 21st century run-effectually-hassle, and I was good to go. Sometimes "attitude" matters when dealing with those dastardly evil govt people.

CHP...Bought a 37 Chevy out of Knox Indiana ....no numbers....took information technology to the Oceanside CHP where they assigned a vin number.....back to DMV for registration and plates....

no i have not, still i have built close to 100 trailers for people and simply had 1 problem. the guy went to a spanish speaking dmv services place and because he thought he was dealing with "his people" he permit them in on the fact that he didn't build it. man did he open a can of worms. i had to fill out a bunch of paperwork, provide receipts for parts etc.
if y'all make an appt. at dmv, bring trailer with no identifying marks, or bear witness it was ever vin'd. and fill out the form (statement of facts i call up) that y'all built it, yous will walk out with plates, and they will put a fiol type sticker on the tounge with your vin

Very like shooting fish in a barrel to practise if the trailer has a VIN. If you lot do not desire to go to the CHP, telephone call a VIN verifier, it will cost you lot $50-$75 and they will give you lot the DMV grade and come to your house or wherever. Fill out a STATMENT OF FACTS sail from the DMV explaining why you do not have the paper piece of work, a vehicle registration sheet, and an awarding for title.

There's no rivet on vin number from the dmv. They just give you a metal sticker that they affix to your trailer. I had i that was not dwelling congenital but did not take a vin. It took 15 minutes, but at that place's no fashion around going to the dmv. I'thou pretty sure y'all don't need to go to chp for inspection on a trailer. That'southward only for vehicles.

In that location'south no rivet on vin number from the dmv. They only requite you a metal sticker that they affix to your trailer. I had ane that was non domicile built but did not accept a vin. Information technology took 15 minutes, just there'southward no way around going to the dmv. I'k pretty certain you don't need to become to chp for inspection on a trailer. That's only for vehicles.
My rivet-on VIN number plate came from the CHP.

When CHP or DMV approves your trailer what are they looking for? Practise they go into depth on gunkhole weight and trailer brakes and clearance lights? I'1000 going thru the california regs and man there'due south a ton of stuff they require that I rarely see on anyones trailer
chp will be much more diligent in their inspection than dmv will exist.

well yous can do a lien auction, in my neck of the woods nearly 50 bucks and 30 days, then yous have to register it in your proper noun. or you lot can do what many practice.....remove all identifying marks, take it to DMV and tell them you homemade it. has to be y'all, non your dad or uncle. im certain the later involves breaking the law though.

practice the lien auction. become somebody good to do information technology for yous. i would get to a local tow yard, or a repair store and enquire around who they use.
